INITIAL IDEAS

PROJECT BRIEF

You are expected to produce a body of coherent, sophisticated research that culminates in a media product that shows off your technical ability, talent, vision and knowledge. The themes were: lock-down Issue, women’s rights/gender issues, Black Lives Matter (BLM) or your choice, signed off by the teacher.

ADVERT CAMPAIGN FOR CLOTHING:

1st (CHOSEN)

For this I will be creating clothing designs of a made-up brand, creating different adverts for said brand creating brand awareness. A collection of 3 clothing designs with 3 different adverts to match. The designs should interest people around my age so that they might hopefully wear this brand in the foreseeable future. These designs will focus on the idea of brutalism and brutalist design. This type of design represents a sense of youthfulness as 'it echoes early 1990's websites'. It 'intentionally attempts to look raw, haphazard, or unadorned'. However these design ideas might be subject to change.

My inspiration for doing this is a person that goes by "GriffinGFX" who is a very talented graphical artist who started doing his work by creating clothing ideas to build up his portfolio and skill set. I might need to build on my skills in both Photoshop and Illustrator due to this being the largest project I have ever done.

PACKAGING SET DESIGNS:

2nd

This packaging set will include a multitude of designs for various different items, each with the message of BLM in mind. For this I would have to research into the history of BLM and also into what sort of packaging I would want to create. I would like to follow the idea of social justice and create designs accordingly. If the BBC were to make a documentary segment on BLM, I could possibly create a package design for them.

Issues come with this since I'm not very educated on BLM nor do I know how packaging designs should be laid out. Although, most graphic design portfolios I have seen, the bulk include a packaging set with designs for a company.

I would need to build up my skills in primarily Photoshop as creating and combining all the different types of packaging is easier to do all on one program.

LOCK-DOWN MENTAL AWARENESS POSTERS: 3rd

A collection of posters detailing the effects and theme of isolation on three different age brackets: children, teens / young adults and adults for the government. Since I was and still am classed as extremely vulnerable by the government, I had to stay inside for a lot longer than other people. Luckily I haven't had many issues with this but I know other people who have and still are having experiences that could be detrimental to the mind. For humans, isolation isn't something we can take lightly as we are sociable creatures and require social interaction as it is 'essential to every aspect of our health'. The posters could spread awareness of what these people are going through and reach a wider audience so that they can get the care they deserve.

Depending on the art style I want to use (mainly vector art), I would have to learn the more complicated aspects of Illustrator and / or Photoshop.
